Keeping your stainless steel appliances clean can be tricky because they’re known for showing up any and all imperfections – smudges, fingerprints, and more – easily.
So today, we’re sharing our top three tips to clean your appliances and keep them sparkling clean.
Before we get started, though, it’s important to remember that there are different types of stainless steel, so if this method isn’t for you, there are other options out there.
1. Start with Your Dish Soap
Start with your tap water and make sure it’s turned on hot, and once the temperature is right, add a quart to a gallon-size bucket.
Once your water is hot, you’ll want to add a teaspoon of your dish soap and mix it.
Now that your cleaning solution is ready, use a microfiber towel to rub it over the surfaces. It’s essential to make sure that you use the micro towel to prevent the finish from being damaged from the rubbing.
Lastly, rinse the soap solution off the surface with a wet (but clean) cloth, and then dry right away.
2. Apply Mineral Oil
After you finish cleaning the surface, pour a little bit of your mineral oil into a bowl. Dip a corner of a clean rag into the bowl (make sure you don’t get too much) and wipe in the direction of the grain.
Once you finish, take the half of the rag that you didn’t dip into the oil and use it to remove excess oil. This will help to keep your appliances from getting excessive smudges or fingerprints.
3. Spray Down with Windex
The last step is simple, spray a dry cloth with ammonia-and-vinegar-free Windex window cleaner.
This will produce a brighter shine.
