With the excitement running high, it can be easy to get wrapped up in what needs to happen for that much-desired summer getaway trip and forget what needs to happen before you head out.

Dishes

After a long day of traveling to get home, the last thing you want to do is chores. Don’t leave behind a sink full of dirty dishes. Make sure to wash, dry, and put everything away before you head out.

Another tip: The night before your big trip, eat out or use paper plates to avoid adding things to your endless to-do list.

Laundry

When you return from your trip, there’s a good chance that most of your clothes need cleaning, depending on how long the trip was.

Rather than coming home to even more dirty laundry than what’s in your suitcase, clean, dry, and fold the rest of your clothes so you have something clean to wear when you return home.

Besides clothing, don’t forget to focus on your bed sheets and towels. Trust us. You won’t be sorry that you did. Additionally, if you will be away for a good while, fold out your bed linen and strip your bed of all sheets and bedding so they don’t accumulate dust while you’re away.

Common Areas

You don’t need to feel the pressure to deep clean the common areas before you leave, but you’ll want to clean these areas so that it can make coming home more enjoyable.

The first step is to tidy up all of the rooms. Dust, vacuum (or sweep), and wipe down the bathroom.
If you notice trash or recycling, pick it up as you go.
